Bot. name: Strelitzia reginae
Characteristics: Bird-of-paradise flower, also called called crane flower, is a popular houseplant, producing beautiful flowers reminiscent of flying birds. The "Strelitzia reginae" seeds used by us is closely related to the banana plant, which is evident in its similar-looking large fan-like leaves.

Care instructions

Pflanzy contains coconut fiber granulate, clay granulate, compostable planting pot and plant seeds.

Carefully pull back sticker. Open the seed packet and carefully remove any stringy orange tufts attached to them with a clean knife.
Put seeds in a glass with luke warm water for 48 hours.
After 48 hours remove seeds from water and plant the seeds 1-2 cm (1/2 to 1 inch) deep and a few centimetres/several inches apart. Slowly pour about 30 ml of water on the planted seeds.
Keep the planting cylinder in a bright, warm place and water moderately until plants are germinating (approx. 20 ml about every 3 days). Make sure that the granulate doesn't dry up – avoid waterlogging!
Bird-of-paradise flower seeds are slow to germinate, taking up to 8 weeks to germinate. Continue to water moderately.
It will take at least 4-6 years of growth for the plant to start blooming.
As soon as the plant gets too big for the container, remove it with its compostable pot and transplant it into a flower pot with some soil. You can also use your empty wooden cylinder as a pencil holder!
