Silk acacia

Item No. 501205

Bot. name: Albizia julibrissin
Characteristics: The silk acacia is also known as the "sleeping tree" because the leaves fold into a "sleeping position" at night or when it is dry. Another special eye-catcher are the delicately scented flowers, which look like pink powder puffs with their long stamens.
Cultivation & care:

Care instructions

Birky contains coconut fiber granulate, clay granulate, compostable planting pot and plant seeds.

  • Carefully peel off the sticker.
  • Slowly pour approx. 30 ml of water into the Birky.
  • Place the Birky in a bright, warm place and water moderately until germination (approx. 20 ml about every 3 days). The granules should not dry out – avoid waterlogging!
  • The silk acacia will slowly begin to grow after about 14-20 days. Continue watering the plants only moderately.
  • The leaves fold into a "sleeping position" at night or when it is dry.
  • If the plants get too big, simply transplant them with the compostable pot into a flower pot with some soil. The Birky can then be used as a pen holder, for example!
  • After about 5 years of growth, the silk acacia can be planted in your garden.
